30: Helping Our Students Appreciate the Sacred with Rabbi Moshe Schwartz

Rabbi Moshe Schwartz is the Head of School at Krieger Schechter Day School in Baltimore, MD. He previously served as the Head of School at Kellman Brown Academy in Voorhees, NJ. He recently completed a two year Certificate in School Leadership and Management from the Harvard Business School and Harvard Graduate School of Education. Rabbi Moshe is a lifelong New York Jets and Mets fan.

  • Model experiential learning.
  • Welcome all questions.
  • Make space to talk about G-d.
  • Study the texts deeply.
  • If we wrestle with G-d in our history and tradition, then we can engage with G-d in our lives today.
  • Try to do too much and you end up with nothing.
  • Though students may not have the proper intent initially, engaging with them will become sacred because they will understand that you do not have all of the answers either.
  • See every moment as a learning experience.
  • There isn’t one way to learn.
  • Continue to have open dialogue with other educators.
  • Education is a marathon, not a sprint.
  • Be consistent.
  • Make the time for Torah study.
